From Warehouse to Powerhouse: Indoor Gym Construction

The global pandemic has affected all of our personal and work lives. While most people were creating makeshift at-home gyms, Alpha to Omega was doing the same – on a bit larger scale (4,000 square feet, that is). Once given the approval to get back to work, we put the finishing touches on this pre-pandemic commercial project.

Functional Fitness

At Alpha to Omega, every decision in the design process is made with intention. Dee Tignanelli swears by two rules: creating balance and designing with purpose. Whether renovating a living room or turning a warehouse into a gym – those rules still ring true.

Functionality was the keyword for this project. A great gym is a space where individuals feel empowered and comfortable. Functionality is judged as soon as an individual walks into the locker room – is there privacy to get dressed? Are there enough lockers? Are the bathrooms clean? A2O worked with Flex Building Systems to create custom wall partitions throughout the facility. The installation was quick and no time was wasted with drywall or finishing.

Equipment is Key

In order to cater to the many different athletes that come to this gym, it’s important to have the gym equipment that speaks to everyone’s desired physical activity. From dumbbells to treadmills, options can be the factor that differentiates a great gym from a decent one. Relating to functionality, there are some unspoken rules about the layout of a gym. People expect the dumbbells to be near the free weights and the cardio machines to have their own space as well. To avoid cluttering and confusion, A2O made sure these accommodations were met.

The Importance of Indoor Gym Flooring

Per our client’s recommendation, Alpha to Omega split the gym floor evenly with turf and rubber flooring. Turf has grown in popularity over the years, offering athletes the comfort of doing their agility training indoors. On the other half of the gym, A2O installed durable rubber flooring. Rubber floors are a great option for indoor gyms. The rubber provides shock absorption, reduces the clamoring noise of dropping weights, and adds a small cushion of safety in case of any falls.

Similar to the numerous paint jobs you completed at home during quarantine, we’d say that this project was a success. Therefore, this indoor gym is spacious, full of amenities, and fit for any athlete’s level of expertise and preferences. Did you know that Alpha to Omega had the capabilities to pull this off?
