Appliance shopping is much more than a quick run to the department store. There are measurements, budget, and convenience to consider among other things – it’s a big purchase! Precisely why wide-eyed shoppers are consoled with the comment, “Good thing this will last you another 10 years!” *Laughs nervously…*
At Alpha to Omega, we know our way around a home improvement store. In catering to our clients’ needs during any residential project, we’ve come to learn a lot about appliances. When to buy, where to buy, and what to buy can be overwhelming. Below, we’re sharing a few of the best tips – JUST in time for some Memorial Day sales!
An Interior Designer’s Home Appliance Shopping Tips
The best time to shop for appliances would be during holiday sales. Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Black Friday to name a few. Realistically, though, that timing might not always work in your favor – when the fridge breaks, you need one as soon as possible!
When it does come down to the wire, our team at A2O likes to recommend budget-friendly appliance options. In the kitchen, we recommend Frigidaire. Maybe you can even get your hands on this stainless steel range for almost $200 off! We also love to recommend American-made products like Whirlpool and SpeedQueen (our very own midwestern neighbor!). Not only is your purchase invested back into our country, but you have the reassurance of a quality-made appliance and a brand you’re familiar with.
We know that homeowners can get caught up in the “looks” of their appliances. Although it’s common for them to match, mixing brands and even colors can be a great way to bring some flair into your home. Flair aside, mixing brands is often crucial in order to stay within budget. For example, if you want a high-end Wolf Appliance gas range, it’s in your best interest to keep it simple with a GE fridge. Don’t buy bigger, buy better!
