Ins and Outs for Interior Design: 2024 Bathroom Trends

2024 bathroom trends

Have you ever looked around your home and thought that it needed a remodel? If you do, you’re not alone. A survey in 2022 found that more than 80% of Americans had plans to renovate.

Among the most commonly renovated rooms in American homes is the bathroom. Perhaps, then, it’s not surprising that new design ideas are emerging all the time.

This raises an interesting question. What are the most popular 2024 bathroom trends? There are several popular trends and we’ll talk about some of them here.

1. Eco-Friendly Design

Gallup polls from 2022 indicate that 72% of Americans were at least somewhat concerned about the environment. Of those, 44% were very worried. To this end, many homeowners are opting for more environmentally focused products and materials.

Modern bathroom interior design places a lot of emphasis on environmentalism. One area where green tech has made a big impact is water use. Smart toilets, showers, sinks, and other appliances ensure that water can only flow when someone is using it. This helps save water in the long run.

2. More Technology

We’re doing a lot more with technology than just saving the environment. In addition to conserving resources, bathrooms are taking a turn for the luxurious. Bathroom upgrades like self-cleaning toilets with heated seats might soon become a common feature in many homes.

Baths and showers might take on a spa-like quality, with steam showers, ambient lighting, and a greater emphasis on walk-in showers and baths. We’re getting closer to the reality of smart baths with automatic temperature controls into our homes.

3. Backlit Mirrors

If you’re looking for simple changes to make when renovating your bathroom, look into backlit mirrors. Backlit mirrors have been popular for years, and they show no signs of slowing down now. Backlit mirrors add a flash of style to bathrooms and can even make the room seem more welcoming.

Technology might play a role here, as well. With backlit mirrors growing in popularity, we might see them grow in capability, too. For now, they remain a tasteful aesthetic touch.

4. Vintage Looks

Americans might be looking towards the future, but we haven’t forgotten the past. Rustic looks are expected to be popular in the coming years. Water closets are coming back into popularity in modern homes.

When we think of water closets, most of us picture a bathroom. However, the term originally referred to a room with a toilet, often separate from baths, sinks or showers. These rooms were later combined with bathrooms to save space.

You could also incorporate vintage style by bringing back old tile designs. All kinds of things are being done with tiles, and there’s no reason that you can’t put a new twist on an old classic.
